Could GAME DEVELOPERS BE OUT OF IDEAS ALREADY OR COULD IT BE THAT THEY WERE AFFECTED BY THE COVID -19 PANDEMIC RESTRICTIONS?. BECAUSE SO FAR THEY HAVE BEEN RELEASING insipid GAMES AND BORING RERELEASES😓....2020 is filled with big video game releases, but a surprising amount of them are remasters and remakes, pushing the medium forward with old stories. BUT IS THAT WHAT GAMERS WANT. NO FROM MY OWN OPINION.

I loved these games when I first played them years back but find them tiring when subjected to long hours of gameplay.
Here's a shortlist of some of the remakes coming this year, which also happen to be some of the biggest games of the year.

  • Warcraft 3 Reforged
  • Resident Evil 3
  • Final Fantasy 7 Remake
  • Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition
  • Destroy All Humans!
  • System Shock
  • Black Mesa
  • Trials of Mana
  • Langrisser I & II
  • Persona 5 Royal
  • XIII Remake
  • SpongeBob Squarepants: Battle For Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated

There's nothing wrong with bringing back old games especially since there are thousands of games getting released every year. Also a lot of those re releases are just contract work or being done by small teams. System Shock was done by a indie studio. Black Mesa is actually a fan remake, which Valve allowed to be sold. Not sure about some of the others you listed.

I understand the value of remakes in terms of cashing in on the nostalgia crowd, but most of the remakes I've played so far, I've been supremely disappointed.

I don't think it's a thing about devs being out of ideas, remakes exist for basically every artistic medium out there. Not to mention some of these games have been in development since like 2013 (ff7 remake and black mesa). But going to back to some of these older games can be a huge pain so getting a more convient release is neat
