I can't be the only one pumped for the next Assassin's Creed. I'm stoked to play as a viking and lose myself in the world.
Who else is grabbing it and what are you looking forward to from the game?

Dude it looks sick. I'm hoping they imrpove on the assassination list from odyssey and lemme go around collecting info then taking out targets on my own terms.

Assassinations were my favorite part of the older games since you could one hit anyone if you were sneaky enough. In Odyssey I thought it was funny when I was fighting a mercenary and accidentally killed a citizen who ended up being one of the Cult Members šŸ˜‚. I'm pretty glad I grabbed the PS4 Collector's Edition, now we just have to wait.

I'm stoked that I'll be able to upgrade the game for free going PS4 to PS5 but I still can't find a definite answer to if the save will transfer as well. Xbox has their definite answer but nothing yet about the PS5

There's no reason why it shouldn't. I can understand why Spiderman wouldn't because they're completely changing the character model but every other game is pretty much just a texture pack and stuff.

I'm looking forward to it. It looks great and it seems like it's using the story of the Norwegian invasion/settling of the British islands very well. Coupled with that, since they're using the story of Norwegian Vikings, that just really speaks to me.

I haven't played an AC main line game since Black Flag. I've become thoroughly burned out on this series, sadly.

Origin and Odyssey might be up your alley. There are enough changes to the formula that it seems like a different franchise while also telling really interesting stories.

I really like the setting too, I'm just worried that the "assassin" part of the franchise is becoming something of an afterthought

I don't see how. Actually, if they spin it out the way I'm thinking, this actually matches what I was thinking they would've done after Black Flag.

For one thing, there are tons of ways that the disjointed kingdoms of Viking-era England can be done allowing for a build up/build toward the Templars that we have knows since the original game. And, since that was the premise of Black Flag, an Assassin being a part of a group of explorers and raiders (not unlike pirates) makes sense. And has there been some base building and defense since at least Brotherhood, I can see a lot of ways that could end up playing a part as you're a creating a settlement.

I loved Origins and Odyssey but never got around to finishing them just like many of the other games I have. Things would get busy at work or something else would capture my attention. Now might be a good time for me to catch up on some Odyssey actually.

Which one of them has the least amount of padding? I'm glad that games like Cyberpunk are much smaller than Witcher 3 - I just don't have the time and energy to play huge games stuffed with padding anymore.

If you don't like huge games then the old school Assassin's Creeds are your best bets in this series. Games are just getting bigger and bigger lately.

Of the two, it's a lot easier to pay attention to the main quest line of Origin. Though even the side stuff for that is pretty well designed. It encourages exploration, and you can technically go back and completely explore the map and finish any sidequests you haven't after you've finished the main storyline, but it's not necessary. Actual main storyline with some exploration, some sides quests (including the FFXV crossover quest that gives you a decent shield and sword as well as a psuedo-Chocobo style skin for your camel), and about 3/4 of the constellation puzzles done (probably about 50% of all the game content) took me, maybe, 60 hours. And that's mostly because I didn't really use a mount all that much through the game, preferring to run through the world.

Origin is the Egyptian one, right?
