Hideo kojima is one of the best video game designer of all time. I admire his innovative inclinations. I just don't know why he was kicked out of konami. Still he remains a legend. I enjoyed the the game METAL GEAR SID GROUND ZERO
Wow ultraboyo. You really know a lot about the gaming industry. Do you have a YouTube channel. I feel you should. So you can enlighten the world on the nitty gritties of gamingI think he got fired cuz he kept spending mgs money on whatever he wanted lmao. Like apparently pt wasn't supposed to be free and he released that way anyways. And made it with entirely new assets for a game they hadn't started on (silent hills). So konami just had enough and fired him. Fuck konami tho they basically forced the man to keep doing mgs games and treat all their workers and the work they do like shit
Yeah I heard Konami was planning on moving entirely onto mobile which is some trash bs. I heard sony would buy some of the ips and that might be for the bestAs far as I recall, his last few projects like Metal Gear Solid : Peace Walker didn't do well commercially.
From the Peace Walker wikipedia :
Industry analyst Mike Hickey told IGN that poor sales of the PSP platform itself was likely "the main cause" for Peace Walker's unimpressive sales.[64] However, Konami has stated they have a profit of $15 million from sales of Peace Walker and Pro Evolution Soccer games, but they did not provide sales figures for Peace Walker. They have however, said Peace Walker sales helped Metal Gear games sell 1.27 million copies for the quarter.[65] The low sales of Peace Walker overseas was cited by Hideo Kojima as the reason why Kazuhira Miller was omitted from the box art of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes for its international release.
This is one big red flag. Peace Walker was developed as MGS V, and Kojima said it was his biggest project ever. Peace Walker was also one of the most technically impressive titles on the PSP so development for it must not have been cheap. PW sold ~520k copies in Japan, but UMD sales in America was ~52k.
Although several of the staff members had already worked on Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, Peace Walker was created with a different mindset.[12] Kojima considered Peace Walker to be the biggest game he has ever worked on.[13] During the planning stages, the game was known as Metal Gear Solid 5: Peace Walker.
Second, MGS V development cost around 80 million dollars because Kojima had created a new engine called the Fox Engine. The higher brass in Konami were not happy with the game being delayed so Kojima was put in their crosshairs.
Dr. Serkan Toto, CEO of a Tokyo-based game industry consultancy, reports Nikkei claims Kojima "fell from grace" because Metal Gear Solid 5 had been delayed.

Phantom Pain ended up selling six million copies.

There was also the fact that the crappy mobile games made by Konami were making more money despite cost of development being several magnitudes of order cheaper than games made for consoles.
Apparently the culture at Konami's game division started to deteriorate in 2010, when mobile game Dragon Collection became a smash hit. As a low-cost development, margin and profit were high - in stark contrast to costly console game creation.

Kojima was frequently pushing the budget and MGS V delays put him on the chopping block. That is why MGS V felt unfinished and had a lot of padding. This also explains the huge lack of cutscenes in the game.

Metal Gear Solid V: Every Piece Of Cut Content You Need To See
More areas, weapons, a ton of story content and... a relationship with Quiet?!whatculture.com
There was a lot of cut content in the game, and Konami jammed the game with microtransactions to speed up Mother Base upgrade times, probably to recoup the expensive delays.
Let me state that I do not support Konami in the way they treated Kojima or the other employees (it is detestable what Konami did); I'm merely just pointing out what I've read.
Konami claims that this is not true (or so they say) :I think he got fired cuz he kept spending mgs money on whatever he wanted lmao. Like apparently pt wasn't supposed to be free and he released that way anyways. And made it with entirely new assets for a game they hadn't started on (silent hills). So konami just had enough and fired him.
I'm glad you appreciate one of hideo's masterpiecesGround Zeros is awesome glad they decided to keep tranq I like the stealthy non lethal approach
I imagine you wearing a lab coat while saying "it's research bro just research"..Research. I follow a lot of people in the industry and press. I also follow a lot of gaming press outlets that do a lot of research of their own.
Read as many gaming websites (Siliconera, Allgamesdelta, Eurogamer, Gamespot, etc) and follow as many journalists as you can that have an excellent track record. Make sure you check as many sources as you can. The main problems are confirmation bias (looking only at articles that agree with your biases), and cognitive dissonance (the problems you face mentally when you come across new information that contradict your biases). The only thing you should focus on is finding the facts, and stats. Check the testing methodologies and margin of error. You also need to make sure there are solid sources and numbers. Anonymous sources rarely work, and the "trust me" bros are usually full of crap. How do you guys get your info. I'm interested in familiarising myself with your sources
