I preferred the first game. The second game's pacing was really bad and the mechanics so lax, it couldn't hold up the 30 hour length of the game. Still managed to get the Platinum for the game (very easy to get the Platinum). I guess Sony is making their exclusives have easier trophies for the Platinum due to trophy hunters avoiding games with high difficulty. Could be why.
I thought the story was so-so. It could have been done better had they changed the order of how the game plays out. Levels were way too linear and the open spaces in the game are not like the ones in Lost Legacy or Uncharted 4. The good parts of the game like that amazing boss battle in a certain...derelict institution (keeping things vague to avoid spoilers), and the light hearted moments of the game are too far and few between. The rope physics was cool but was it really worth the 3 months devs spent to make for what would be an element of gameplay that is used only 6-7 times? On Twitter, they said the code for the rope physics were bigger than some indie games. I also recently read that the game has a heartbeat for every single enemy, character and animal and it actually affects how characters breathe. Cool, I guess, but I wonder if it was worth making, especially considering the insane crunch involved. Special props to the accessibility options. It was heartwarming to see lot of disable gamers be able to play and enjoy the game
Overall, I liked the first game more than TLOU 2. I get that the devs were trying to shake things up from the first game, but sometimes, less is more.
