Console, mobile, or PC

What's your preferred platform? Console? If so, which one(s)? Mobile? PC?

Also, why is that your preference?

For me, I'm generally more of a console games. It's a mixture of cost and optimization. Sure, stuff can be scaled on PC, but if it isn't properly optimized for your set up, there's every chance that a game you bought won't work. Consoles, even when a game is buggy and still needs to be fixed, it isn't the optimization that necessarily needs to be fixed. There are some multiplat games that I will get on PC because they're better optimized for mouse and keyboard (Deliverance: Kingdom Come for example). But generally speaking, if I can get it on consoles, I will.

I've returned back to console game after having gamed on PC for around 22 years. What really pushed me back into console was after I started live streaming my games on Twitch and such. PC is already randomly problematic but streaming takes that to a whole new level of nonsense. I've thought about doing dual PC streaming and such but I just can't properly set up for that right now.

I also agree with you on the optimization. That can be a huge pain. Console is great for the incredible ease of plug n play. I definitely miss out on the advantage of mods and Ultra style graphics but at the same time, I do not miss the headache of PC.

I rarely touch mobile gaming but some of the games are surprisingly impressive and cool. I really like Marvel Future Fight and another Marvel game I'm forgetting off the top of my head. Generally mobile is pretty terrible but there are some good games out there.

Actually, your point on mods, depending on the game, seem to have gone to the wayside. Like The Elder Scrolls and Fallout games both eventually had mod support on consoles. And as for Ultra-style graphics, the next gen consoles seem to be capable of at least modern max/ultra settings. And they aren't going to be constrained by an anemic CPU or mechanical hard drive bottleneck.

I'm mostly a console player. I know, PC gaming is definitely the superior choice if I want to max out those graphics and framerate, but to me there's just something nice about laying back on the couch, picking up a controller, and just booting up a game. It's simple, and no-fuss. And I know that I'm set for at least half a decade with a console purchase.

Aside from that, I can lend games to friends, and vice-versa.

That said, my preferred way to play games is to lay in bed with a handheld and some good headphones. I've always just felt most comfortable playing on a handheld.

Mobile gaming? It's really hit and miss for me. I play a heck of a lot of RuneScape on my iPad still. But I just can't get into a lot of the free-to-play titles. Give me something like Framed, or Reigns, Part Time UFO, or even the surprisingly solid Danganronpa port.

I play on PC because it lets me do other things then gaming without me needing to get up and it's much easier to multitask with.

That's about the same for me. Though laying in bed playing with some good headphones. I've got my Switch, but my TV and Xbox One S is close to the foot of my bed and I've got a good headset hooked up to my gamepad. I completely agreed that mobile gaming is pretty hit and miss though there is some pretty awesome stuff on there.

I'm currently stuck on PC for now, but I'd like to get a switch and PS5 for certain exclusives (though actually, switch more for portability, and PS5 more for backwards compatibility)

I used to have my TV in my bedroom, so yeah. Similar situation there. But that's before I got my own flat.

Now that I'm living on my own? My main consoles are in my living room, with my TV.

I still live at home because when I'm not at my day job, I'm taking care of a chronically ill parent. So my consoles and TV are in my room.

I’m a mix of pc and console tbh. Though i’m leaning more on console just because i want my games to be physical :D.

Been a console gamer for my whole life and can't see changing. I guess I never got around to messing around with a PC too much. Grew up on consoles and just stuck with what I knew.

Until reading this I wasn't aware that PC's could cause headaches and have all kinds of issues. As my best friend is a PC gamer and he's never complained. That's not to say he hasn't experience those issues, but I've never asked and he's never offered that information.

I feel like buying playstation is a better choice if you're also a pc gamer since most xbox "exclusives" will also be playable on pc but not as many playstation exclusives will be. Even if a playstation exclusive does release for pc, it'll be at least months to a year after its initial playstation launch

Right may as well just buy a cheaper Alien Ware computer with better stats than a new Xbox or something along those lines

I love consoles for their exclusives, PC for multiplats. Mobile gaming is....crap. All these lootboxes, energy refill, microtransactions, lifeless garbage. I hate mobile gaming.
