So the Xbox Series S is just an XSX without a disc drive?
It's less powerful as well. So the Xbox one x is like 2.6 teraflops or something and the Series S is around 4 to 8 teraflops while the Series X is around 12 teraflops. I'm to lazy to look up the exact numbers.

6 Tflops for the Xbox One X, 4 Tflops for the XSS (PS4 Pro has 4.2 Tflops), and 12 Tflops for the XSX.

Microsoft essentially shot themselves in the foot. The confusing naming scheme aside, there is zero incentive for the normal gamer to go for the cheaper XSS when they think, "more tflops = better performance".

The contest ends November 24th so that's only 12 days after the North American release and I don't see there being a supply issue in Canada.

4 Teraflops, but ultimately, it's also a 1440p machine. 1440p, you don't need higher tflops. Still the same system architecture as the Series X. Same CPU and GPU, just downclocked and with fewer transitors. So you'll still be getting the next-gen experience.. Biggest issue with the Series S is the fact that they cut the SSD storage capacity in half (512 GB instead of 1 TB). So my guess is they're expecting to or at least hoping to make back any losses on the Series S with the proprietary Seagate external SSDs in a big way.

Also, let's be realistic here. Can you really build a 1440p machine capable of raytracing and running at 120fps for $299? Nah.

True, the raytracing won't be running at 120fps, but again. It's still going to be one hell of an ask to get 1440p with raytracing at 60fps for $299.99 as well.
