What are you playing right now?

Heya!

All right, so here’s a pretty common thread. But heck, it’s a good one.

Let’s chat about the games you’re currently playing right now!

Currently, I’m juggling Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition and Pokemon Sword.

With the former, I’m doing a NG+ run after playing the absolute heck out of the game already. I just think the addition of Expert Mode — which allows you to change your level at will, depending on how much total XP you’ve accumulated — might lead to a particularly fun way of screwing around during the main story mode. Especially with some of the equipment I’ve unlocked in the previous playthrough.

It’s just a new and different way to view a game that I already adore, so it’s been pretty enjoyable so far.

As for Pokemon Sword? The DLC’s out, so of course I want to dive back in. Play around with some of the new moves — one of which has been a rather nice little upgrade for my hidden ability Indeedee — as well as see what I can do in terms of party formations with the re-introduced classic ‘Mons.

Also, Libero Cinderace is a fun time. I was absolutely looking forward to that one. I mean, it’s giving me flashbacks of playing around with Protean Greninja.

Since making this post, I’ve since started a replay of NieR: Automata. I’m ready to be sad!

Playing Hitman right now, but I’ve spending the last week modding Skyrim too. Can you believe I haven’t played it yet? Like, ever.

Skyrim is a genuinely great game to just unwind with. It’s not the most in-depth thing ever, but it’s a fantastic little toy box.

In my current save, I totally maxed out my pickpocketing. So now every single guard in the game is naked. That’s all that I used it on.

World of Warcraft casually. I had played since the launch of the game extremely hardcore up until Cata. Then I was mostly just done with the game. Have nothing but love for it but played so much. I have returned from time to time to check out the new expansions but never got into the game the same way I used to until Battle for Azeroth.

WoW is an entirely new game at this point. I really enjoyed what I played of WoD (leveling through it) and Legion but I didn't get to play those fully as I joined at the end of Legion. I really like BFA a lot. The content is great and I really like the story. It's just not the same game it was so many years ago. It took me a full year to finally accept how the game is now. I'm definitely not a fan of how they have literally turned every single piece of content into a grind.

I also recently picked up Ghost Recon Breakpoint just cuz it was on sale for $10 and I always wanted to try it. It's alright. It's awkward because the further I got into it, I find it's actually kinda fun. But it's literally not even the tiniest bit better than Wildlands. There is no improvement at all. If anything, it's kinda worse. But I still think it's fun enough. At this point I wouldn't flat out recommend it.

Recently completed The Last of Us II. Gonna be playing Ghost of Tsushima soon.

I'm playing mobile games. b/c I'm stupid like that and got myself addicted to another one. aside from that... I've just recompleted FEZ, and I'm working through the Ys Series bit by bit, and... dunno. I've been playing a minecraft modpack, since I was bored?

I'm playing a couple of different things. On my Xbox One, I've been jumping between Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Minecraft Dungeons, and different Assassin's Creed games.

On my Switch, I've been jumping between The Sinking City, Splatoon 2, and DQXI: Echoes of an Elusive Age.

I've been playing a lot of random stuff. I just recently got back into SFV on PC with the most recent Steam sale. Now I have allllll of the content and the game feels better than ever. It's nice to be back at it.

Other than that, I've just been spacing out on Warriors Orochi 4 UItimate and some Persona 4 Golden on PC.

Persona 4 Golden is a goddamn excellent game, though. Let's be real.

I hope it comes over to Switch, to be honest. I mean, yeah, I still have a Vita on-hand to play it. But convenience! The Switch is the platform that I happen to have on-hand most of the time!

Ah well. At least I've got Tokyo Mirage Sessions!

I'm playing the C&C Remastered edition. C&C is one of my favourite franchises so I'm having a blast playing the campaign again with modern controls.

Draodda, Pokémon Sword and Shield are great. Same fun thing. Just be sure to also get the expansion pass as well so you're getting even more out of it.

Sword and Shield are pretty solid games. Though oh my gods, I'd love to see a full main-series game with the type of world design found in the Isle of Armour. Because yeah, the Wild Area there is just so much more complex and varied than the one in the base game.

Doing a second run on The Last of Us Part 2. And most likely Ghost of Tsushima afterwards. :)
Ghost of Tsushima is great!

Admittedly, maybe it's a lot more novel for me since I don't play that many open world games. But it feels like an old school Assassin's Creed game. Albeit with some really smooth and refined controls and an excellent combat system for those times when you really just want to charge in headfirst.

Also, if you've got a HDR-capable TV, you're in for a real visual treat.
