I probably will be focusing on pre-ordering the Series X and, if I don't happen to succeed with the giveaway, I'll be getting the PS5 either around my birthday or possibly around holiday 2021.
Make sure to do the financing option that is a awesome deal to make up for any lack of game exclusives.
The financing thing just gets me low monthly payments since I'm already a Game Pass Ultimate subscriber. Plus, since I'm going to be trading up, likely through Gamestop since the Gamestop closest to me is doing solid business with no announced closures in my area, I'd also be looking at $125 knocked off the price before taxes.
You would think that they would announce the preorders during their stream instead of doing what they said they would not do and randomly dropping them

Yeah. Pointed that out about 17 minutes ago. You actually quoted the post where I confirmed that PlayStation confirmed when preorders would go live.
That said, looks like I called the prices for both models of the PS5. After newest that they were scrambling to be more competitive after the price point reveal of the Series S/X, they were probably originally thinking at least $100 more expensive, which would've been ridiculous since, on paper, it's the weaker of the two between at least Series X and PS5. Still really good specs, but if it ended up coming out more expensive, unless they had an absolute powerhouse launch line up, they would've been in the same space as the Xbox One when it launched.
