I've been running the same PC specs for roughly 7 years now and it appears to just be getting to the point where I can't max out every graphic settings on games without sacrificing smooth frame rate on more graphic intensive games, such as Doom Eternal as one example. It can still run every game reasonable well at this point with some minor tweaks to settings though, but given this I'm starting to think it may be time to start looking for upgrades.
For rough specs I'm running a GTX980 graphics card, 16GB RAM, and Intem i7-4770K CPU processor (4 core 8 processor) on an MSI (MS-7845) motherboard. Given the initial look on some of the games coming out on PS5 that are graphic intense and that PC games are going to keep getting more intensive, I figure it's finally time to start thinking about either doing some upgrades to my current rig where possible or if I should start just saving up for a new rig and use the current for a new backup PC given that our current backup PC isn't capable of doing much more than checking email and printing things out.
I haven't kept up as much with current PC hardware so open to suggestions on where trends are heading for performance parts.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
